Another one of our Atlantic Coast clients that sees the value in buying
quality from the West Coast, this renovation of an existing restaurant
was very extensive. All new millwork, fixtures and boothwork. No completed
photos are in yet, but we wanted you to see the boothwork we created for
this project. What
appears to be rather plain looking simple booths, pullmans and circles
with vertical channeled vinyl backs and smooth seats. If you were to remove
the seat covers, this is what you would find: Hand-tied individual coil
springs! Each booth seat was shaped by hand as the individual coils were
compressed and tied into position. The result? A very firm yet comfortable
seat with superb last-a-bility. Unique in this day and age to say the
very least.
Universal Music Group Simple settee booths until you look closely. There are several of these spaced around the dining room of this very upscale facility. 3/4" thick solid aluminum end panels, laser cut with a finely brushed finish and enamel clearcoat. The end panels appear to be fastened with only the two large spun aluminum "screws" fabricated by PWI. The "floating" back panels are fully upholstered with a concealed filler at the underside of each. Genuine leather hides hand sewn and stretched over shaped foam padding with integral steel supports. The longest was a full fourteen feet long with no center support!
The seats are again genuine leather, plush coil springs and a blind frame
detail to further the illusion of no support. Stainless steel legs below
with adjustable feet complete the look. Not your ordinary settees!
Ladles Garden Fresh Restaurants, parent company of the Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes restaurants, is breaking new ground in the "quick service" restaurant industry. "Ladles" , their latest new effort is a Soup, Salad and Sandwich Takery. They serve upscale hearty soups, chowders, and bisques, sandwiches and topped focaccias, all fresh, made to order in the restaurant within view of the customer. Here we find a simple and tasteful settee booth. A brushed stainless steel frame and leg assembly created in our metal division supports the simple seat and back pads. The bench is attached to the floor with concealed fasteners and provides for a comfortable meal while making a design statement that matches the balance of the interior.

Fuzio Various Locations A new "fusion" restaurant concept focusing on pasta dishes with outstanding sauces from cultures around the globe.
Simple clean lines in spaces with lots of air. Black granite countertops and table tops, Cherry and Maple settee booths with jet black upholstered "bolsters". Hostess and service fixtures as well as "logo" etched glass panels and polished chrome divider posts completed our portion of these projects from San Francisco to Washington D.C.
Clydes Restaurant This full service establishment has a huge reputation in and around our nation's capital. The place where "deal makers" go to transact business. This location took on a "nautical" theme and is carried out superbly by designer Chatelain Architects of Washington D.C., executed with great care by local general contractor Gordon & Maizel. This "Bait Shop Bar" took on a whole different feel from the rest of the more formal restaurant. More casual like sitting atop the boat ramp by the shore, the front and back bar is solid Honduras Mahogany, planked in classic style with a stainless steel top at the "open-up" window side to serve fishermen on the patio. The boothwork had to be really special. The designer wanted to bring a "life preserver" feel to the upholstery. PWI experimented with different ways to accomplish the task ending up with contrasting piping and brass grommets with white woven infills. Success! In the "Sail Room", you get the feeling you've stepped within the galley of a classic passenger vessel. From the skylight PWI created above to the paneled walls all about you. The boothwork has a truly nautical feel with horizontal lines and rounded corners throughout. All millwork by PWI as well as the carved glass panels with nautical scenes to remind diners that it could be worse outside! Solid plank table tops complete the package with a hand-rubbed oil finish.
A truly challenging mixed media project with a heavy emphasis on custom upholstered booth seating. This is a twenty-four hour restaurant covering over nineteen thousand square feet! Designer Rick McCormack of The Cheesecake Factory added detail at every turn of the head. Here we find some crescent-shaped booths with serpentine and swooping backs in the cocktail lounge. The outside of each had hand-applied " square Italian glass mosaic tiles. Over five thousand tiles on each booth! The booths set atop cone-shaped brushed stainless steel legs for that "furniture" feel. The main dining area finds "tombstone" shaped backs at several long settees as well as curved and serpentined backed pullmans seen in the foreground here and in front of the glass mosaic tiled Waitress Wall.
A very successful retailer of the unusual. With stores located throughout the Southland, this is their corporate headquarters. A meeting room with flair. These large circle booths and settees, fully upholstered inside and out, provide for just the right atmosphere for the creative juices to flow. Upholstered booths aren't just for eating anymore!
Here we see a radical departure from what had become normal for a Sizzler Restaurant. An interesting layout and a challenging use of colors and textures. A full "picture-frame" smooth vinyl headroll around a removable fabric back panel. The vinyl headroll withstands the riggers of constant touching by hands, the fabric back panel adds the color and interest the designer desired and it is removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.
A hugely successful specialty restaurant chain with multiple locations in Southern California and across the country. Claim Jumper is known for its generous portions of good quality fare. These are Honduras Mahogany booths. Full end panels and dividers with v-groove siding and leaded glass panels. The seat pads have vinyl covers over high density foam and dacron padding. Simple yet effective plywood back panels with stretched fabric over foam padding.
Nieuport 17 is an upscale restaurant in Southern California known for its classic aeronautically themed interior. Rich woods and fabrics, pure class service and expertly prepared meals for lunch and dinner. Here we see their main bar. Note the classic naugahyde upholstered bar die, arm rest and bar stools. Some things never go out of style!
The Islands Restaurants interiors are reminiscent of just that, the Islands! Thatched roofs, bamboo, surfing posters and videos are a constant reminder of where you are supposed to be. The fare? What else, burgers, fries and great shakes!
Unfortunately, these images are all we will ever see of this attractive establishment. Gone for some time now, the merits of these booths we see here still remain. Over-stuffed couch-like fabric back panels, poofing over their decorative
end and back panels.
Smooth vinyl seats over no-sag springs complete the structure. These booths
wound around building columns and alcoves creating a private dining experience
in the midst of a very open-air restaurant. | |
